Skegness Football Funds First Ever Event August 2010
The event raised money for The Butterfly Hospice and in particular, The Nick Adams Room for the Butterfly Hospice.
Nick Adams was a local young man who sadly passed away from cancer.
His mother and great supporter and promoter of Skegness Football Funds, Sandi Adams, wrote a letter to all those taking part in the event. The words of the letter show why we felt moved to act to raise funds for the Hospice.
So, inspired by Soccer Aid, that is what we did and we raised over £1500 for the Hospice and had a great time doing so.
We promised to run every year and raise funds for local cancer charities and causes. As well as raising awareness of Cancer.

SKEGNESS TOWN LEGENDS : 3
SKEGNESS ALL-STARS : 4
Final score
Last year was hot. The bar was doing serious business and people sat outside with their drinks enjoying all the pre match entertainment.
Phil Steele kept the PA rolling with great music as loads of kids enjoyed themselves in the sun.
The Lisa Jay Stage institute took to the pitch and did a great job entertaining the crowds.
Out came the teams for a pre match warm up with some of the older players getting injured at this stage.
A tense tough match kicked off, refereed by the fantastic Stacey Howards. Tony Johnson kept the busy bar rolling. As penalties loomed the All Stars struck late and won the match.
Then the party started with food, drink, raffles, games and entertainment from the brilliant Hypnotist Mr Ian Dee and also Stefan Michaels.
Skegness Football Funds 2010. The first ever. A great day. But watch out because 2011 promises to be .....

Sandi Adams
"Hello, please let me introduce myself, my name is Sandi Adams.
We are trying to raise £50,000 to open a room in a hospice that is presently being built in the grounds of Pilgrim Hospital. Each room costs £50,000 to equip and I have pledged to fund one room. Now the reason why I'm involved, my son Nick Adams was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer back in 2006 aged 24. During his illness he was in a great deal of pain and the local hospice couldn't manage his pain adequately. We were advised a hospice would be the best place for him to get it under control and help him mentally come to terms with his fate. The nearest Hospice to us in Skegness was St Barnabas in Lincoln which we had to wait two weeks before there was a bed as they cover a huge area. Once in the hospice, the level of care was totally different to a hospital and his pain was soon bearable. The down side was that his family and friends had a 90 mile round trip to visit him, draining both time and money. The other downside was that all the care we came across was based on older age groups and being only 24 he found it really frustrating. He asked me to promise that, after he died, I would do my best to improve the care of younger terminally ill patients and he had a vision of a room designed and equipped for people around his age. Obviously we wouldn't keep a room empty awaiting younger patients and would be used for all ages but it would be there when needed. This is where you come in and all the wonderful people who have supported us in the three years since his death to fundraise. This year the hospice build will be completed and I now need to ensure that the funds are available and ready. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of myself and my son for your help in raising this money. Thank you, Sandi Adams."
